Eagle Scout Service Project Benefits Glendale Acres Elementary School

 Submitted by Deborah Dowd

Matt Mooneyham of Boy Scout Troop 740 in Fayetteville built four “buddy benches” for Glendale Acres Elementary School for his Eagle Scout Service Project. Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in Boy Scouting and one of the requirements is for the scout to plan, carry out, and complete a project that will benefit the community in some way. Matt worked with Principal Dr. Dees to figure out a project that would benefit the school. He raised money to fund the project and worked with other Scouts and volunteers to build and paint the benches and brought them to the school on March 23, 2018.  Matt is a senior at Terry Sanford High School.  The Glendale Acres Elementary School family is most grateful to Matt for the wonderful ‘buddy benches,” as well as for the community support of the project!”
