Submitted by Deborah Dowd Students, staff, and parents of Glendale Acres Elementary School were treated to a wonderful performance by Zak Morgan on January 23, 2018. Zak has received awards for his CD Bloom as well as a GRAMMY nomination for his CD When Bullfrogs Croak. He has also released a DVD entitled Zakland. His experience of performing over 2,500 concerts for children was obvious as he truly delighted the Glendale Acres Elementary School family with a very interactive and imaginative program. The assembly was made possible through the Artists in Schools program. “The Arts Council’s Artists in Schools program is supported by Cumberland County Schools, the North Carolina Arts Council, the City of Fayetteville, and Cumberland County.” Glendale Acres’ Parent Teacher Association matched the Artists in Schools grant with the Arts Council. .........................................................................................................................................Published by Lisa Clay on January 23, 2018 |

Submitted by Deborah Dowd All staff and students of Glendale Acres Elementary School celebrated the September 17th Citizenship Day on Friday, September 15, 2017. Everyone gathered around the school’s flagpole for a special ceremony. Principal Dr. Julie Dees shared with everyone some information about Citizenship Day and the United States Constitution. She then introduced Terry Sanford High School’s AFJROTC to present a flag ceremony. Jr Cadet Quintero directed the cadets in an educational and moving presentation. Afterwards, Glendale Acres’ music teacher Carlos Tyson led everyone in the song, “My Country Tis of Thee.” The Glendale Acres Elementary School family is very appreciative of Timothy K. Peedin, Capt. USAF (Ret) and the Terry Sanford High School AFJROTC for their community support. .........................................................................................................................................Published by Lisa Clay on September 20, 2017 |
