Welcome Back To School poster with red apple

Operation Smooth Start is all about helping everyone ease into the new school year. We will collaboratively work through any issues that may arise. During the first 10 days of school, we will set the stage for student success. Live student-teacher interactions will occur beginning on the first day of school, but no high-stakes assignments will be made before August 31. We want to ensure that each student is able to pick up the necessary materials, understand expectations and address any questions. This is a new normal, but we will learn and grow together. This is going to be a great school year!

  1. School Information: Got questions about your child’s schedule, Canvas or PowerSchool? Visit your school’s website or call your child’s school for more information. Instructional schedules vary by school. Students are encouraged to check their CCS email daily for updates from teachers.
  2. Canvas: Canvas is the district-wide learning management system. Teachers will begin using Canvas by August 31. Parent accounts will be available on August 31, or once courses are published. More information about Canvas will be shared with students and parents during the first two weeks of school. PowerSchool will remain the authoritative source for grades and attendance.
  3. Recorded Lessons: Later in the school year, teachers will record live lessons and make them available on demand for students. This allows families flexibility in the learning schedule during traditional and non-traditional times. Each child can revisit recorded lessons while still having access to live teaching and support. The district will provide additional flexibility and support for students in grades K-5, including alternative times for remote learning and on-demand tutors. Learn more:

  7. Student Chromebook/CCS Email Login Information: Contact your child’s school or call the help desk at (910) 678-2618 if your child has issues logging into CCS email or his/her CCS Chromebook.
  8. Meal Sites: CCS meal sites resumed service on August 17 with added locations to increase access to nutritious meals for students. Meal service times are 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Monday-Friday to align with the district’s defined instructional day. Visit to view the 49 school sites as well as the bus routes.
